During his visit to the United States, Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in fruitful discussions with notable figures from diverse backgrounds, including the prominent entrepreneur and Tesla CEO, Elon Musk. The interactions proved to be insightful and promising for future collaborations between India and the US.

Elon Musk expressed his enthusiasm about India’s potential, stating that he was incredibly excited about the country’s future prospects. Regarding Twitter’s compliance with local regulations, Musk emphasised the importance of adhering to the laws of each country.

He acknowledged that Twitter must follow the directives of the Indian government to continue its operations, underscoring the necessity of abiding by the regulations in place.

“The best we can do is to follow the laws in any given country,” PTI quoted him as saying. Musk added that it would be impossible for the social media giant “to do more than that”.

When queried about Tesla’s entry into the Indian market, Musk confirmed his plans to visit the country in 2024. He expressed confidence that Tesla would establish a presence in India as soon as feasible, appreciating PM Modi’s support. While avoiding premature announcements, Musk hinted at the likelihood of a substantial investment that would further strengthen the relationship between Tesla and India.

“I am confident that Tesla will be in India and will do so as soon as humanly possible,” he said. “We do not want to jump the gun on an announcement but I think it is quite likely that it will be a significant investment in our relationship with India.”

In a recorded statement, Elon Musk expressed admiration for Prime Minister Modi, noting that the prime minister’s sincere efforts to attract significant investment to India demonstrate his genuine concern for the country.

“I am a fan of Modi,” he said.

Furthermore, Musk emphasised India’s tremendous potential for solar energy investment, highlighting the fruitful discussions he had with Prime Minister Modi on this subject. Describing the talks as excellent, Musk acknowledged India’s favourable conditions for harnessing solar power and expressed optimism about potential collaborations in this domain.
