Honkai: Star Rail has officially announced the upcoming technical test for the popular sci-fi RPG’s PS5 version, expected to release later this year. The newest game from Genshin Impact developer HoYoverse would be met with massive success following its launch on PC and mobile devices earlier this year, quickly racking up over 20 million downloads. The studio also announced a PS5 version, currently slated to debut in Q4 2023. Now, HoYoverse is rolling out a technical test to get players ready for the PS5 version’s release.
Honkai: Star Rail‘s post-launch updates have already seen plenty of content added to the game with more coming soon. The RPG has added six new characters throughout the Version 1.1 and 1.2 updates, including fan-favorite roster members like Silver Wolf and Kafka among others. HoYoverse also recently aired the Special Program broadcast for Version 1.3, introducing players to a trio of new characters and plenty of new content for the update. Now, fans on PS5 will soon get their first opportunity to try out Star Rail on the Sony console.
A new update shared by the official Honkai: Star Rail Twitter account has revealed the dates for the game’s upcoming technical test on PS5. Fans looking to try out the RPG on the Sony console can register now through August 28th for a spot in the technical test. The test is set to officially begin on September 4th with no time limit for the testing period revealed with the announcement. HoYoverse has previously confirmed that players would be able to transfer their Star Rail accounts from the PC and mobile versions, with transfers confirmed to be available during the test. The arrival of Honkai: Star Rail‘s technical test for the PS5 comes just days after the game is set to debut its Version 1.3 update. The newest patch for Star Rail will introduce two new five-star characters in Imbibitor Lunae and Fu Xuan, as well as a new four-star unit with Lynx. The update will add a new permanent area within the Xianzhou Luofu in Aurum Alley, tied to a new event. Version 1.3 will also make several changes to the Simulated Universe game mode, adding new Curios and the new Propagation Path.
Honkai: Star Rail‘s debut on PS5 joins several quality-of-life improvements made to the game throughout its first few updates. HoYoverse officially added stickers to Star Rail‘s in-game chat system with Version 1.3, following the system’s addition in Version 1.1. Version 1.2 also saw new trial run stages added to the game, allowing players to test out each member of the game’s permanent rotation of five-star characters.
