Hot 100: The Weeknd-Led ‘Popular’ Becomes Madonna’s Longest-Charting Single in 15 Years appeared on thatgrapejuice.net by ..::That Grape Juice.net::.. – Thirsty?.
Details inside…
While reports have surfaced The Weeknd’s controversial series, ‘The Idol,’ has officially gotten chopped from the HBO roster after just one season, songs from its official soundtrack – namely the Madonna and Playboi Carti-assisted ‘Popular’ – have far from gotten axed from leading digital download and streaming playlists.
In fact, the Metro Boomin & Mike Dean-produced bop – which made history with its #43 debut – appears at #62 on the updated Hot 100 in its 12th week of charting.
Here are the numbers that powered its placement.
– Streaming ? 4.4 million U.S.-based streams
– Radio Airplay ? 15.5 million audience impressions
– Digital Downloads ? 400 sold
And although Madge has managed multiple chart placements over the last 15 years thanks to hits from her ‘MDNA’ (2012) and ‘Rebel Heart’ (2015) albums, fans of the Pop Queen know the last time she reigned aboard the hitlist for as long was in 2008 when she clocked into the top 5 with ‘4 Minutes (featuring Justin Timberlake)’ – the Timbaland-produced lead single from her 11th studio album ‘Hard Candy.’
The sweet news comes less than 2 weeks after Madonna celebrated her 65th birthday, following news she was gearing up to toast her unparalleled discography on the globe-trotting ‘Celebration Tour.’
