‘I saw him and almost died!’: Harry Styles joins Hampstead Heath pond breakfast appeared on www.hamhigh.co.uk by Nathalie Raffray.

The Kenwood Ladies Pond Association (KPLA) held its annual Shared Breakfast at the Ladies Pond on October 8, which saw a record number of male and female swimmers attend.

Pop Icon Harry was reportedly among them, according to the Evening  Standard, but the co-chairs of KPLA remained discreet saying “we’d never tell, even if we knew”.

However swimmers took to Facebook with one saying: “I was serving coffee and he came up to me and very modestly said thank you for a lovely morning. Beautiful manners for someone so famous. A lovely Cheshire boy.”

Another said: “I saw him and I almost died! But I didn’t get in his face and everyone gave him space and was very respectful. But I honestly barely kept a lid on it hahaha.”

The KPLA has run the breakfast and swim event since 2012 after Men’s Pond swimmers allowed women into their pond when the Ladies’ Pond was iced over that winter.

Co-chairs of KPLA Pauline Latchem & Beth Feresten said it proved “very popular” and led to the men offering a reciprocal breakfast event each year, usually in the spring.

They said: “This year’s event was one of the busiest we have ever hosted – we think about 500 people turned up to swim and queue for breakfast.

“It used to be around 80 – 100 people, though last year we planned for 150 and ran out of croissants.

“This year we ordered an extra 100, but ended up cutting many of them in half due to the sheer numbers.

“Fortunately we also had plenty of cereal, yogurt and fruit, toast and spreads, and lots of donated fruit and home baked cakes and pastries from generous swimmers, so everyone got something to eat and drink.”

As It Was singer Harry , who lives in Hampstead, is a fan of the ponds and was captured diving into the Men’s Pond in September.

Pauline and Beth added: “We were lucky to have a beautiful day for it and everyone seemed to be having a wonderful time socialising and picnicking in the sunny upper meadow after their swim.

“As for whether a certain well-known male singer was among the visitors, there were so many people and we were all kept so very busy serving breakfasts and hot drinks… who knows?

“The Ladies’ Pond is in any case, a place of peaceful and quiet enjoyment, privacy and even sanctuary from day to day pressures.  We’d never tell, even if we knew.”
