“I wasn’t ready to start dating, I was scared”: Adele Lied to a Man Who Tried to Flirt With Her to Avoid Some Potential Horrible Life Decisions – FandomWire appeared on fandomwire.com by FandomWire.
After taking a 6-year long hiatus from the realm of music to focus more on her personal life, Adele returned to her roots with her album 30, which ruled the Billboard charts for a long while. But among all the tracks that the album comprised, there is one song that the singer can’t go through without bursting into tears.
Considering the album was written during the most turbulent period of her life, it’s reasonable to see why some of the songs are extremely emotionally heavy for the British singer to get through. And nothing explains this better than the song Oh My God, which reflects her emotional state at the time.

Adele Was Scared to Get Back Into Dating
The single Oh My God tells the story of Adele wanting to bring back the fun in her life while still being conflicted with her own feelings. Considering she parted ways with her former husband Simon Konecki not long before getting back in the music industry, the divorce had a lasting impact on the pop star, as the singer claimed she was scared of dating. Adele feared that she wasn’t ready to get back into Mingling, fearing she might take some wrong life decisions. And being in a state of emotional turmoil, she also rejected the advances of a man at the time, lying that she was married.
“It was just about the prospect of sort of dating and stuff like that in bloody LA … I was terrified, I wasn’t ready to start dating anyway, but I was scared that if I did, that I would probably make some really bad decisions because I wasn’t ready.” She added, “I remember the first time [someone flirted]. I was like, ‘Do you mind? I’m married.’ And my friends were like, ‘But you’re not.’ And I was like, ’Oh s***. OK, oh my God.’”
However, this isn’t the only single in her acclaimed album that brings the British icon on the verge of tears, as one of the hardest songs to craft in 30 was To Be Loved.

Getting Through To Be Loved Without Shedding Tears Is Impossible for Adele
But apart from the single that reflects on her turbulent love life at the time, for Adele, one of the hardest songs to get by in the album was To Be Loved. The Easy on Me Star explained when she wrote the lyrics for the single, she imagined her son as a grown man in the crowd, listening to her music, and it turned her “into a bloody wreck.” She said,
“It’ll be interesting to see if I have to switch off for some of them to make sure that I don’t just like, burst into tears or get triggered by anything.”

Even though the divorce took a heavy toll on her, Adele did recover eventually and claimed she feels lucky because every one of her love interests, including Simon Konecki, was pretty respectful.
