Intel Core i5-13500 Processor Faster And Cheaper Than 12600K: Could Stunning Leaked Benchmarks Be True? appeared on www.forbes.com by Antony Leather.

Intel’s latest mid-range processor, the Core i5-13500, has had benchmark results posted online, showing it’s faster than the once mighty Core i5-12600K. Yet to appear on shelves elsewhere, the CPU, along with others such as the Core i5-13400, could give AMD problems at the lower end of the market.

Intel’s Raptor Lake 13th Gen CPUs have received rave reviews and the lower down the stack you go, the more competitive they seem to get. This might also be true for yet un-released models such as the Core i5-13500, which trounced the once mighty Core i5-12600K in new leaked benchmark results.

Already available in Indonesia, the Core i5-13500 was benchmarked by PC enthusiast Alva Jonathan and reached a peak core frequency of 4.8GHz. It has an interesting mix of P-cores and E-cores – six of the former and eight of the latter – the same as the excellent Core i5-13600K.

Critically, it’s also four more E-cores than the older Core i5-12600K, even if it has a slightly lower peak boost frequency of 4.8GHz compared to 4.9GHz.

The extra E-cores mean that even at the low power PL1 65W mode, the Core i5-13500 scores 17,104 in Cinebench’s muilti-threaded test – just short of the Core i5-12600K but faster than Ryzen 7 5800X, Ryzen 5 7600X and Ryzen 7 5800X3D. Upping the power limits to the maximum setting saw this rise to 21,103.

This not only trounced the Core i5-12600K but also beat the Ryzen 7 7700X and came close to matching the Core i7-12700K too.

This as well as the expected Core i5-13400 could represent fantastic processors for those looking for something more reasonable than the likes of the Core i7-13700K or Ryzen 9 7900X.
