Hearing Mike Tyson’s speech about the neighborhood he once lived in, Sadhguru drew a striking analogy between Tyson and a ‘lotus flower growing in the filth’. Tyson began by saying that he never expected that anything good would ever happen to him.

He said, “I never thought any good would ever happen to me growing up in my environment, in my neighborhood. You always feel bad, people died. It was just normal seeing people die, seeing prostitutes, seeing that kind of filthy stuff, it was normal. As a matter of fact, it was even honorable because it became so normal. We normalized it.”
In a response to Mike, Sadhguru made an allusion to the ‘Yogic culture’ and the lotus flower that grew only in filth. Sadhguru expressed that the lotus flower symbolized human development and growth. Although it grew in filth, according to Sadhguru, the lotus flower remained untouched and fragrant. Here’s what Sadhguru said, comparing a lotus to Mike.
Sadhguru drew a comparison between Mike Tyson and a lotus flower in filth
The controversial Sadhguru said that the lotus flower grew best where the filth was really ‘thick’. According to him, everyone had the choice to either run away from filth or ‘blossom’ into this fragrant flower in life. “So, it’s like this,” he said. “In the yogic culture, we always use [the] Lotus flower as a symbolism [symbol] for human growth and development. [The] Lotus flower grows best wherever filth is really thick. It stays in the filth but untouched and fragrant.”

Speaking of choices, he added, “So, this is a choice that all of us have. Either we can develop [an] allergy to filth and run away or we can become part of the filth. Or, we can blossom into your fragrant flower. This is a choice every human being has every moment of their life.”
It was clear to Mike Tyson what Sadhguru was implying. Therefore, as soon as he finished, Tyson replied saying, “Yeah, I’m very flowerful.”
