One Direction won’t be having any “Midnight Memories” on “The Late Late Show.”
Whispers of the boyband reuniting on the final episode of James Corden’s late-night run have been circulating and were pushed even further when the Mirror reported that they were rumored to reunite in full.
But the show quickly shut down speculation on its official Twitter account.
“Nobody loves the boys more than us … but this story just isn’t true,” the tweet said. “What is true is we’ve got an absolutely brilliant 2-hour finale planned to celebrate 8 years of #LateLateShow at 10 p.m. on April 27th.”
One Direction — consisting of Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Zayn Malik — officially announced they were going on “hiatus” in 2016, a year after Malik left the band and made the five-member crew a foursome.
Though the boyband said they’d be on an 18-month hiatus, they have never reunited and all members have gone on to pursue solo careers.
Corden has been a longtime fan and supporter of One Direction, with the boys appearing on the show multiple times, including a “Carpool Karaoke” segment. Styles, 29, and Horan, 29, have both had weeklong stints as guests on the show during their solo careers and have been guest hosts of the show in Corden’s absence.
Corden announced his departure from “The Late Late Show” in April 2022, just before renewing his contract for an eighth and final year.
The last broadcast of the late-night show is set for April 27 — and CBS plans to air a prime-time special that same night to say its goodbyes.
Corden, who has hosted the show since March 2015, will be joined by Tom Cruise, 60, for a big sketch during the special.
CBS recently revealed that after almost three decades, the network will be ending the franchise with Corden’s departure. They’re expected to replace the time slot with a reboot of Comedy Central’s series “@midnight,” executive-produced by “The Late Show” host Stephen Colbert, according to Deadline.
Corden is the fourth and last person to host “The Late Late Show.”
