DONIPHAN — James “Jim” Taylor, 65, of Doniphan, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at Nebraska Medicine in Omaha.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday January 4, 2024, at All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island, followed by burial in Cedarview Cemetery in Doniphan. Dan Naranjo will officiate.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2024, also at the funeral home.
Jim was born on May 6, 1958, in Tecumseh, to Lyle and Mary Lou (Johnson) Taylor. He was raised and received his education in the Doniphan area, graduating from high school in 1976.
On July 28, 1979, Jim was united in marriage to his soul mate and light of his life, Cheryl Clark. They were blessed with two wonderful children. After graduating, Jim worked for Missouri Valley Construction for several years and was then employed with Mid Nebraska Disposal, where he worked for 30 years until his retirement in 2021.
In his spare time, Jim enjoyed fishing, camping, spending time with family and all things nature. He was an avid griller and enjoyed smoking meats for many backyard barbecues, in which he was the life of the party. Family was Jim’s number one priority, and his grandson was the center of his universe.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Cheryl; his children, Chelsie Garcia and Tanner Taylor; a grandson, Julian Garcia; his mother, Mary Lou Taylor, a brother, Don (Suzanne) Taylor; two sisters, Judy (John) Coker, and Janet Davison; a brother-in-law, Albert (Rebecca) Clark; a sister-in-law, Deb (Jerry) Reinhardt; numerous extended family; and his precious furbabies, Chloe and Gunner.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Lyle; and an infant brother, Michael.
