NEW ORLEANS, La. (WAFB) – Former LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels has been honored with the 2023 Manning Award.
The award is given by the Allstate Sugar Bowl to the top quarterback in the United States, and Daniels is the third LSU quarterback to receive the honor.

“Jayden had an amazing year for the Tigers,” said Archie Manning. “Even without playing in the postseason, he still led the nation in total offense, ranked fifth in passing offense, and accounted for 50 touchdowns. He was a thrill to watch every week.”
Daniels also put together a record-breaking season at LSU, leading the nation in touchdown passes (40), and rushing yards by a quarterback (1,134).
Daniels previously received multiple honors as LSU quarterback, including the 2023 Heisman Award, the title of AP College Football Player of the Year, and the 2023 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.
The Manning Award is the only quarterback award that takes into consideration the candidates’ bowl and playoff performances. The award is voted on by each of the Mannings as well as a panel of local and national media.
The Allstate Sugar Bowl created the Manning Award to honor the college football accomplishments of Archie Manning, Eli Manning, and Peyton Manning. The award is now in its 20th year.
