Jonas Brothers channel their inner Taylor Swift at grandiose Detroit show appeared on www.mlive.com by Edward Pevos | [email protected].

DETROIT – They said they were going to play all five of their albums in one night and they weren’t kidding. The Jonas Brothers channeled their inner Taylor Swift by playing a grandiose career-spanning concert at Little Caesars Arena on Thursday, August 24th.

Nick, Joe and Kevin took the stage right at 8:00 p.m. as many fans in the arena were oblivious to the severe storms and even tornado warnings happening all over west, mid and southeast Michigan causing flooding, damage and power outages across the state.

The lightening show reached the downtown Detroit area just as the concert let out around 11:00 p.m. with many fans waiting inside for about a half hour for things to clear. Many others said to heck with it and braved the storm as they walked to their vehicles.

Talk about literally giving fans what they advertised. The Jonas Brothers performed, get this, more than 60 songs in just under three hours. 65 in all. Some were medleys, but more than half were full songs.

Their huge stage featured a full band, including backup singers and a horn section. The brothers mostly performed out front on another section of the stage. There was also another, smaller stage, set up on the other side of the arena in which they performed at multiple times throughout the night.

Other than a 15-minute-ish intermission and some lulls during some slower songs, the pacing of the show was fast and furious as they went from one song to another. The guys pretty much performed non-stop, going through song after song after song on every single one of their albums.

This concert was just what die-hard Jonas Brothers fan ordered; an entire career worth of songs in one night. The casual fan enjoyed the show as well and definitely got more than their money’s worth, but probably didn’t know a number of the deeper album tracks they played.

Taylor Swift has set the bar as high as it can go with her “The Eras Tour” concerts as she plays a career retrospective. Nick, Joe and Kevin didn’t quite make the Swift elite production status and they weren’t trying to duplicate it. In terms of delivering a show which showcased their entire career… they accomplished that and then some.
