Sociology professor at the University of Jordan Maysa Al-Rawashdeh said Tuesday that Jordan recorded the highest number of divorces in the Middle East, according to recent studies.
Rawashdeh told Roya that most marital disputes that lead to divorce were due to financial and economic reasons.
She added that many housewives had to join the workforce to meet their families’ needs and cover their expenses, according to studies.
Figures showed that many of these divorced couples relied on an income equivalent to the minimum wage (JD 260) or even less.
