Kenny Chesney & others mourn victims of fatal BVI accidents | Loop Caribbean News appeared on caribbean.loopnews.com by Dillon De Shong.
There has been an outpouring of support for the families of two men, who were killed in separate vehicular accidents on the British Virgin Islands.
Vincent Huggins,19, was killed when his scooter was struck by an SUV on Fort Hill, Tortola Road on January 19.
Hours later, businessman Seddy Callwood, who is the owner of the “One Love Bar”, died when his car crashed on Jost Van Dyke.
Tributes are being paid to both men by their friends and loved ones.
“He was so focused and determined…it hurts he was such a sweet respectful boy. Let’s keep his family in our prayers. Love you, Vincent,” one woman wrote.
Another person commented: “Vincent was such a nice young man. It’s sad to see him lose his life at such a young age.”
Among those paying respects to Callwood was country music star Kenny Chesney, who frequented his restaurant on trips to the island.
“Goodbye to my island friend Seddy Callwood. Seddy, thank you for your friendship, the beers, the lobsters, the laughs, and the years of card tricks. Rest in peace, my friend. One Love!,” Chesney
Another customer wrote: “Sometimes people come into your life when you least expect it. The impression they make is the type of blessing that is difficult to describe. Seddy Callwood was that person. He was quiet, kind, giving, and loving. Even though we only spent a week on Jost Van Dyke each of the last four years each time we came back it was as if we had never left. We loved spending time with him and Laura, feasting on lobster, touring their new home and, of course, having a Coors or two with him. He will forever be missed.”
Acting premier Kye Rymer sent prayers on behalf of the government and people of the BVI to the grieving families.
“Sincere condolences are extended to the bereaved families, friends and colleagues who have experienced loss by these tragic events. The Government of the Virgin Islands extends our prayers and asks that our Lord God, comfort the families and friends during this time of immeasurable loss. I wish to take this opportunity to further encourage the residents and visitors of our shores, to remain cautious when using the Territory’s roadways,” he commented.
