Parents looking for a quick TV distraction for their kids will have another free options thanks to DistroTV, which will stream a live channel filled with programming for Kids TV.
Kids TV may not be a household name, but characters like Bob the Train and its nursery rhyme videos have made it a force for children’s entertainment. Its YouTube site boasts more than 24 million subscribers.
“Kids TV – Sing Along Nursery Rhymes” will be one of many live streaming channels on the DistroTV platform.
The deal gives parents a source for many kids videos popularized on YouTube — without the risks of having their kids watch YouTube. For DistroTV, it’s new content that expands its library beyond classic shows, older movies and obscure sports like professional Cornhole.
The company offers content in multiple languages, but emphasizes English, Spanish and Indian programming. The Kids TV channel will launch with English, Spanish and Hindi, with plans to support a dozen additional languages down the line.
“We are thrilled to bring such valuable content to our viewers worldwide,” said Navdeep Saini, CEO of DistroScale, the parent company of DistroTV.
“Partnering with DistroTV alows us to expand our reach and make our content accessible to a wider audience,” said Uday Singh Phookla, producer and founder of Studio17, the parent company of the studio that produces Kids TV content.
The channel is available on the platform now. DistroTV itself is found on multiple smart TV platforms, from Roku to Apple TV and various smart TV operating systems. Like Pluto TV, it’s a free ad-supported streaming service with a collection of live and on-demand content, ranging from obscure b-movies to more mainstream fare like Bloomberg TV.
