Lewis Capaldi shares sweet clip playing Ed Sheeran song after Ed plays his track appeared on metro.co.uk by Tori Brazier.
Lewis Capaldi has shared the sweetest throwback video of himself as he reflected on Ed Sheeran playing his song in front of a capacity crowd at the O2 this weekend.
Ed was in residence at the London arena on Friday and Saturday as part of a select number of shows to mark the announcement of his new album – (Subtract).
Someone You Loved chart-topper Lewis took to Twitter on Saturday night to share a snippet of Ed, 32, singing a heartfelt rendition of Lewis’ hit track to the 20,000-strong crowd.
He also posted a little snippet of home video footage of himself performing Ed’s song Small Bump, playing along on the guitar, in his living room to his parents, aged 13.
And a very assured early performance it was, too!
He wrote alongside the video in his tweet: ‘Me playing Ed Sheeran to my parents when I was 13.
‘Ed Sheeran playing my song to 20,000 people all these years later.’
The Scottish singer-songwriter, 26, then added a mind-blown emoji as he reflected on the full circle moment.
We reckon Lewis might have got his maths slightly wrong as Small Bump came out in 2011, when he would have been 14 going on 15, but the point, of course, remains!
Lewis, who has a new Netflix documentary coming out next month, enjoys a friendship with Ed.
They have even written a song together, Pointless, for Lewis’ forthcoming second album, Broken by Desire to be Heavenly Sent, and Lewis last year overtook Ed to be recognised as officially having the UK’s most streamed song of all time.
However, he previously admitted to regretting taking housebuying advice off the Shape Of You singer, after he called the £1.6million mansion he bought at Ed’s suggestion a ‘money pit’.
Revealing that they had become close over lockdown, he shared: ‘[Ed]sent me a link, and I was like, “Oh, this place looks amazing.” I went and looked at it and I was like, “This is great.” I didn’t maybe look around enough, I didn’t smell it.’
Lewis then branded it a ‘hell hole’ that smelled of ‘fags and dogs’.
He then added to host Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1 that the five-bedroom house had become ‘the bane of my existence for the last couple of months’.
