Los Angeles Mansion Where the Beatles Once Stayed Is Available to Rent for $42,000 a Month appeared on www.mansionglobal.com by V.L. HENDRICKSON.

A Los Angeles residence where the Beatles stayed during their first trip to the U.S. is now available to rent for $42,000 a month.

Although the price of the Bel Air estate was recently lowered by $6,000 a month, it’s a far cry from the $1,000 fee charged for the British band’s four-day stay, according to a 2004 article in the Los Angeles Times

Because of the mania created by the Beatles, their Los Angeles hotel canceled the group’s reservation, leaving them stranded. British actor Reginald Owen stepped in to help, renting his home to the Fab Four.

“It was there that Lennon jumped into the pool fully clothed, and the foursome played cowboys and Indians with toy pistols—a gift from Elvis Presley. Still, screaming girls surrounded the mansion,” according to the article.

Owen—a popular character actor at the time who was in “Mary Poppins” (1964)—died in 1972, and the home was purchased by the family of the current owners that same year, property records show.

“The integrity of the property has been upheld masterfully, from the 1920s architecture to the array of original details—the home truly couldn’t be emulated today,” listing agent Trevor Zien of The Agency said in an email. “It is easy to feel a connection to the home’s history when you’re on the property and in the house—if only the walls could talk.”

The Mediterranean-style was built in 1924, and sits on approximately an acre of manicured grounds, which includes a swimming pool and spa, a fire pit, multiple fountains, several outdoor dining and entertainment areas and “sensational gardens,” the listing said.

Inside, the home offers original details such as hardwood floors, arched doorways, exposed ceiling beams and custom cabinetry. The living room and dining room both offer fireplaces, and the latter connects to the renovated kitchen, which boasts new appliances and a scullery.

The residence features five en-suite bedrooms on the upper level, plus a sixth on the main level, the listing said. The primary bedroom suite offers vaulted ceilings, walk-in closets and two bathroom suites.

Mansion Global could not determine exactly when they bought the property or how much they paid. The owners declined to comment.
