Music of 2018: Listen to the fun songs I posted, and post more fun songs. Hugs! appeared on www.dailykos.com by Daily Kos.
First, here is my cousin, Paris Jane, again:
Here is the link to the list of hit songs:
Ella Mai, at number 92:
My wife, Tonia, had me listening to that, a few years before she died.
Very smooth, very nice.
Kenny Chesney, at number 87:
My parents were both born on farms in central Missouri, in 1924.
When I was a kid, we visited Grandma’s farm every summer and every Christmas.
So, I feel that I have strong country roots.
But a lot of the popular country music is too twangy or too corny for my liking.
But this one made me cry.
Seems like a sincere song of love, for everyone.
Florida Georgia Line, at number 82:
The voice is too twangy for me, but the message is nice, and the melody is fun, so I can tolerate it.
Life can be complicated, but sometimes we might overthink our lives, when it might actually be fairly simple.
Selena Gomez and Marshmello, at number 60:
Nice and smooth and simple.
Childish Gambino, at number 51:
Okay, this song is not for light entertainment.
As a white man who was married to a Black woman for ten years, before she died, she and I were looking at this video. I think it was other sources on the internet, that explained some of the details of this video, or maybe my wife explained some of the details.
Here is a video that explains some of this:
Jim Crow, and the red folks’ love of the guns.
Very educational.
G-Eazy and Halsey, at number 45:
Nice. Simple. I like it.
The Weeknd and Kendrick Lamar, at number 40:
“Who’s the Hero? You the hero.”
All the killing in the lyrics, I don’t like, but it relates to the action movie, Black Panther. But I like that line about seeing a hero in the mirror. That’s what I do!
Ha!
Portugal. The Man, at number 33:
I posted that song last week.
Usually, I prefer not to post the same song two weeks in a row.
But this one is just too much fun.
Why is he dressed like a house painter?
Who cares?
Ha!
Dua Lipa, at number 16:
I looked at that one last week, but left it out.
I changed my mind this week.
Ha!
Ella Mai, at number 15:
Her style reminds me of my late wife, Tonia. Nice.
Bruno Mars, featuring Cardi B, at number 14:
So catchy and fun!
Camila Cabello, featuring Young Thug, at number 4:
I posted this song last week, but it was at number 96.
It moved up a little.
Ha!
Drake, at number 1:
Okay, musically, this song is not very entertaining to my ears.
But the video, with superstar Drake, giving away money?
That made me cry.
Of course, I cry easily.
Okay, here is the link to the list again:
