National Security Technician Day: Feeling Pride for a Job Well-Done appeared on www.securitysales.com by D. Craig MacCormack.

Kyle Robbins hasn’t always been a security technician, but that career has given him the most satisfaction in his career.

Kyle Robbins, 39, hasn’t always been in the security industry but that line of work has brought him the most satisfaction in his career, for a variety of reasons.

Not only does Robbins, a lead technician at Eastern Security Services take pride in doing his job well as a representative of the logo on his shirt, but the security technician with a decade’s worth of experience in the industry also loves showing off the projects he’s completed to his children as a way of both trying to impress and inspire them.

What’s one installation that’s been particularly memorable or made you proud?

One of my proudest installations was actually one of my very first. Green to the security profession, I was sent to a home with a much more experienced coworker. The homeowner was in her late ’80s, and her family – who lived out of town, was concerned about recent “riffraff and shenanigans” in the local neighborhood.

They called us in, and we did a walkthrough with her and her daughter. Getting a feel for what their concerns and worries were, we were able to not only secure her home with the latest in security technology, but also provide a strong peace of mind. Seeing the relief and smiles on their faces stood out as an early highlight moment for me.

How did you become a security technician and why do you love the security industry?

Before installing security systems, I was a cable TV and internet installer for 10 years. The security team asked for volunteers to start installing security systems in homes, along with the other services we provided.

Having grown up with a security system in my home, I was always intrigued to learn more about how it all worked. Funny enough, the technician who installed this system at my parents’ house is now my coworker!

Getting to help people and businesses every day, and knowing that their livelihood and families are in a safer, more comfortable place because of what I do makes it all worthwhile. You could say that I have a passion to protect.

As a dad, it’s also an added perk to be able to drive past a home or business and say, “hey, kids, Daddy installed those cameras!”
