Netflix fear 'catastrophic ending' to Mike Tyson and Jake Paul fight with potential downgrade on the cards appeared on www.gbnews.com by Jack Otway.

Netflix reportedly fear a ‘catastrophic ending’ to the fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul on November 15.

Iron Mike will be taking part in his first fight in four years, with the boxing icon going up against a man who is 31 years his junior.

Though Paul is a divisive figure, the 27-year-old has won 10 of his 11 bouts so far – with a defeat to Tommy Fury last year the only blot on his record.

The fight is currently set to go ahead, despite Tyson suffering an ulcer flare up earlier this year.

According to World Boxing News, Netflix are eager for there not to be a ‘catastrophic’ ending to the clash – despite both men meeting medical requirements for the big event.

Yet there is a possibility that the fight will be downgraded to an exhibition, instead of a professional.

Tyson is said to be ‘treading a fine line’ with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation due to age and health concerns.

The report says Tyson could face a health assessment ‘far more’ rigorous than normal in order to protect him from any serious damage.

When asked why he wants to fight, despite suffering an ulcer flare up earlier this year, Tyson added: “I don’t know. That’s a funny question – because I can.

“Who else can do it but me? Just look at it. Who else is he going to fight to make [this] happen?”

Meanwhile, boxing promoter Eddie Hearn was recently asked about the upcoming showdown.

And Hearn made it clear he wasn’t happy with the clash proceeding as planned, having also been critical earlier in the year.

“What, what, what on earth are we doing?” he said when asked about the showdown by the Daily Mail.

“I’m lucky enough to have a business where we don’t need to do that.

“And I will never do that.

“Anyone that thinks that [Tyson] should be in the ring right now either doesn’t have his best interests at heart or is an idiot.

GETTY

Mike Tyson left the sport of boxing – which was, what, 20 years ago, I don’t know, something like that – he was shot to pieces.

“You honestly think that a fighter that was shot to pieces 20 years ago should now be coming back?

“I mean, I know he is only fighting Jake Paul, but it doesn’t matter.

“Jake Paul’s a powerful kid. He trains every day, he can punch. I get it, I get the business. I’m not criticising them, but for me, no, thank you, not in a million years.”
