Not for Broadcast Getting VR Version appeared on gamerant.com by Game Rant.
Award winning full motion propaganda simulator Not for Broadcast receives a release date for the VR version alongside other announcements.
The award-winning full motion propaganda simulator Not for Broadcast is coming to VR. Not for Broadcast was originally released in 2022 after an early access episode in 2020. This will be the first time for the experience to be playable in VR.
Developed by NotGames and published by tinyBuild, the game saw players take on the role of a studio director for a fictitious news station. The game also received a Guinness World Record for the “most Full Motion Video footage in a video game,” clocking in at 42 hours, 57 minutes, and 52 seconds. Like many gaming tropes, FMV games saw their debut in the 80s, but had become somewhat outdated by the time 3D graphics became viable in the 2000s. In recent years, as video games have been taken more seriously as an art form, full motion has made somewhat of a comeback with some truly great FMV games out there. For Not for Broadcast, the FMV style fits perfectly for the news broadcast theme.
As the game sees the player sat behind a command console, monitoring news feeds, having to produce a live broadcast, play adverts, censor swear words, and avoid interference, the idea of being in the game in a VR format feels like a natural way to play. Now tinyBuild have revealed that a VR version is due on Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro and SteamVR on March 23rd, alongside the release on PlayStation and Xbox consoles. Although PS VR2 has a diverse lineup set for its release, Not for Broadcast is regretfully not currently projected for the PlayStation VR set.
The release of Not for Broadcast on PlayStation and Xbox, as well as the VR version will also coincide with the release of the game’s first DLC expansion, titled Live and Spooky. The DLC looks to replicate the infamous BBC reality–horror/pseudo-documentary television movie Ghostwatch. Shown on British TV in 1992, many viewers believed the movie to be depicting real yet supernatural events. Luckily NotGames is promising that the DLC will be in-keeping with the base game’s general comedic tone.
Whether playing on VR, console, or adding the DLC to the base game, this is a great time for players to experience one of the highest rated games of 2022. The expansion to VR as well as console means that a much wider range of players have a chance to play Not for Broadcast in their preferred way this March.
Not for Broadcast is available now for PC and launches March 23 for Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro and SteamVR, as well as PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
