Pelosi memoir ‘The Art of Power’ planned for August release appeared on thehill.com by Filip Timotija.

A new memoir penned by former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) will be available later this year, according to publisher Simon & Schuster.

In the book, titled “The Art of Power,” Pelosi details her years in public service, legislation she’s helped to enact as House Speaker and her personal account of the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol and her relationship working with former President Trump, among other stories.

The memoir will be available Aug. 6, per the publisher.

Pelosi, 84, stepped down from leadership last year, after leading Democrats in the lower chamber for two decades. The move came after Republicans won the majority in the 2022 midterm elections.

She was first elected to the House in 1986 and quickly moved up the ranks, becoming minority leader in 2003 and eventually Speaker in 2007. The California Democrat was the first female to hold the coveted position.

The California Democrat held the gavel until 2011, when Republicans took control of the House. But, in 2019 when Democrats regained the majority, she was once again sworn in as Speaker.

People always ask me how I did what I did in the House,” Pelosi told The Associated Press (AP) after the memoir was announced. “In ‘The Art of Power,’ I reveal how — and more importantly, why.”

Pelosi published her first book, “Know Your Power,” in 2008 and was written to inspire young women to follow their dreams.

In her new memoir, the former Speaker also shares a personal account from a 2022 incident when a man broke into her home in California and attacked her husband, Paul Pelosi, with a hammer.

The Hill has reached out to Simon & Schuster for comment.
