Montoursville, Pa. — A man allegedly returned a PlayStation HR headset box to a local store for more than $500, without the item in the box, police said.
Jeremy Rowl Draper-Bell, 30, of Williamsport, was charged with theft by deception after employees at Walmart discovered a book and flashlight inside the container, Officer Marcus Watkins said. Draper-Bell glued the box shut before returning it to the store in Walmart, Watkins added.
Draper-Bell claimed he bought the wrong item on Dec. 9 when he returned the PlayStation accessory, according to the complaint. The headset is valued at more than $500.
Investigators learned Draper-Bell made the original purchase from a Walmart in Painted Post, NY, Watkins wrote. Police were provided pictures of Draper-Bell allegedly at both stores. He is wearing the same pants and shoes both sets of pictures, Watkins added.
Watkins linked Draper-Bell’s credit card to the purchase and return, according to the affidavit.
Draper-Bell is awaiting a Feb. 26 preliminary hearing with District Magistrate Judge Gary Whiteman.
