A Hudson Valley couple took the gender-reveal fad to a new level with the help of one of the biggest pop singers in the world.

A trip to Las Vegas turned into one of the most memorable moments for Chris Dare and Shantelle Lord. The husband and wife traveled there on a business trip-turned-weekend excursion.

Planning ahead, Dare surprised his wife with tickets to one of Adele’s residency concerts for Lord’s birthday. She also happened to be 18 weeks pregnant with the couple’s first child at the time of their trip.

Neither knew what the child’s gender was, but the answer was in an envelope provided to them with a post-it note inside. For six weeks, they never opened it.

“We then had the idea of ‘let’s see if we can have Adele do our gender reveal,’ and we didn’t really take it too seriously,” Lord said. “My brother was kind of like, ‘do it. What do you have to lose? Just give it a try. If anything, she doesn’t call on you.’ We’re like, ‘you’re right. Let’s do it.’ ”

The couple, exercising amazing self-control, decided to roll the dice while in Vegas and see if Adele would help break the news. They got a flag made ahead of their trip and waved it from their seats in the last row of their section at the concert.

“We started going crazy with the flag, and our whole section just started whistling and screaming to get her attention, and that’s what really just shot her eyes up to the top,” Dare said. “She saw the flag, and we couldn’t believe it when she said, ‘oh, I would love to do your gender reveal.’ We just like, our hearts dropped.”

“She screamed, ‘let them down. Let them down!’ ” Lord said.

They were escorted to the front of the stage, where they handed Adele that sealed envelope for an unscripted moment. Adele delivered the news that they will be having a boy and instantly became part of the celebration.

“Her reaction was just incredible. I mean, me crying, her crying, us hugging and crying,” Lord said.

“We didn’t expect her to get so emotional, but the fact that she did is just is a testament to who she is and her character,” Dare said.

They said the audience was also high-fiving them as they went back to their seats.

“It’s cool to see that everyone is joining in on this moment with us, so we’re all excited,” Lord said.

“That baby boy is already so famous,” Dare said.

The couple will be saying, “Hello” to their baby in January. They’re still deciding on a name, but “Rumor Has It” they’ll always have a special place in their hearts for the singer who helped welcome him to the family.

“Surreal. Oh, my goodness. Being up close to her in general. It’s like this beautiful person who is, first of all, A-list celebrity, and then second, just such a good person. And she’s so personable,” Lord said.
