Pope Francis has accepted the resignation from the Apostolic Nunciature to Morocco submitted by Archbishop Vito Rallo, a native of Italy who turned 70 on May 30.
The resignation of Archbishop Rallo explained by Art. 20, §2 of the Regulations for Pontifical Representations on the “Learning to take leave” was made public by the Holy See Press Office on Friday, June 30.
The Vatican diplomat who started his service as Apostolic Nuncio in Burkina Faso following his June 2007 appointment has served as the representative of the Holy Father in Morocco since December 2015.
Born in Italy’s Diocese of Mazara del Vallo, Archbishop Rallo who was the fifth Nuncio to Morocco was ordained a Priest for the same Italian Episcopal See in April 1979.
He joined the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy in 1986 and the diplomatic service of the Holy See on 20 February 1988.
