PS5 Pro Specs Leak Online appeared on gamerant.com by Game Rant.
Highlights
- Insider sources have revealed the PS5 Pro’s specs.
- The PS5 Pro is rumored to have faster rendering, but pricing is still unknown.
- Fans should take these leaks with a grain of salt and wait for the official announcement from Sony.
The recently leaked specs for the rumored PlayStation 5 Pro console have now been corroborated by two reliable insiders. The PlayStation 5 Pro console has been rumored for quite some time, with many fans assuming Sony would move forward with a beefed-up PS5 similar to what it did with the PS4 Pro. Sony itself has yet to officially announce the PS5 Pro console, but that hasn’t stopped rumors from spreading about it online.
Persistent rumors and leaks from reliable sources have said that the PS5 Pro not only exists, but that it is set to launch later this year. It’s been said that the hope would be to get the PS5 Pro console out in time for the launch of Grand Theft Auto 6 in 2025. With Grand Theft Auto 6 skipping PC, the new game is assuredly going to be a system-seller, and one has to imagine that there will be many consumers jumping on the PS5 bandwagon to play GTA 6. Some of these individuals will want the best performance possible and will therefore be looking into getting a PS5 Pro console.
PS5 Pro Console Expected to Release Later This Year
After recent reports have suggested the PS5 is entering the later stages of its life, a PS5 Pro is speculated to be on the horizon.
Recently, more information on the PS5 Pro leaked online, with Moore’s Law is Dead initially sharing details that were later corroborated by Insider Gaming. According to the reports, the PS5 Pro will feature “rendering 45% faster than PS5, 2-3x Ray-tracing, 33.5 Teraflops, PSSR upscaling/antialiasing solution, custom machine learning architecture, and an AI Accelator supporting 300 TOPS of 8 bit computation/ 67 TFLOPS of 16-bit floating point.” A future version of the PS5 Pro will supposedly support 8K resolution. This information is said to come from leaked documentation that was originally shared in a developer portal.
PS5 Pro Specs Leaked
The Insider Gaming report has some additional details about the PS5 Pro spec leak. According to Insider Gaming, PS5 Pro devkits have been in the hands of Sony’s first-party studios since September of last year, while third-parties have had them since January. Pricing information on the PS5 Pro has yet to come to light, but it’s obvious that the device will be pricier than the PS5, which currently retails for $449.99 for the Digital version and $499.99 for the Disc version. Unless PS5 price cuts come along with the PS5 Pro release, one has to imagine that the new console will be north of $500, though it’s unclear exactly how much more expensive it will be.
Insider Gaming reiterated previous reports that the PS5 Pro is set to launch later this year, but added a caveat that the console’s release date might shift “due to the lack of first-party games” that are on the way for the PS5 this year. Sony recently admitted that it didn’t have any new PS5 exclusives on the scale of a God of War Ragnarok or Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on deck for 2024, so it would make some sense to delay the PS5 Pro release date. Perhaps the console will be pushed back so that its launcher is closer to Grand Theft Auto 6‘s 2025 release.
Fans should take all of this information with a grain of salt for now. Sony has not actually announced the PS5 Pro yet, and so it’s best to wait for an official reveal before getting too excited about the possibilities. If the PS5 Pro does exist, it’s possible that the console will be announced at a PlayStation State of Play event, or maybe as part of the upcoming Summer Game Fest, so fans should keep an eye out for more information.
