See What Song Was Streamed More Than Any Other on Spotify This Week appeared on themessenger.com by Julia Gray.
Taylor Swift didn’t have the most-streamed song this week, nor did Olivia Rodrigo, the Weeknd, Bad Bunny or Doja Cat. The person behind the most-streamed song on Spotify across the globe for the week of Jan. 11 is a 19-year-old regional Mexican artist named Xavi.
Xavi — whose full name is Joshua Xavier Gutierrez Alonso — released his now-hit single “La Diabla” back in November, and it entered Spotify’s Weekly Top Songs Global chart the following month at No. 69. It spent five total weeks on the chart, and now ranks at No. 1. The rising star counts nearly 3 million followers on Instagram and almost 5 million on TikTok. “La Diabla” has been used in over 1 million videos on the latter platform.
“La Diabla” currently tops Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart, his first No. 1 on any Billboard chart, and is No. 3 on the Billboard Global 200 chart. Xavi is making history on Spotify as the first música Mexicana artist to claim the No. 1 spot on the Top 50 Global chart with a solo track. Earlier this month, Xavi signed with WME for global representation in all areas. He’s also signed to Interscope Records, and is preparing for his first-ever tour this year.
“Super grateful with everyone and the whole team; we’ve been doing everything with love, giving it our all to keep pushing our music and culture to new heights,” Xavi told Billboard recently after topping the Hot Latin Songs chart.
Behind Xavi on Spotify’s global chart is Tate McRae’s “Greedy,” followed by Jack Harlow’s “Lovin on Me” and Taylor Swift‘s “Cruel Summer.”
