Seeking ‘Divine Intervention,’ Mike Tyson Was Urged to Do The Unthinkable to Avoid Jail: ‘But That Was Too Much For Me’ appeared on www.essentiallysports.com by EssentiallySports.
The tranquil Mike Tyson of recent years, with his euphonious words of wisdom, is a far cry from the formidable world heavyweight champion that he once was. However, owing to his arduous upbringing and his eccentric – and often out of control – former persona, he has often found himself on the wrong side of the law. One of the lowest points in Tyson’s life and career was his 1992 prison sentence. In fact, he had spoken about the same in his 2013 memoir. And also gave an insight into the rather baffling steps he took in a desperate attempt to avoid jail time.

Moreover, the champ even had a few choice words to say about his prison sentence.
A hoodoo woman asked Mike Tyson to urinate on $500 to avoid jail
Tyson was desperate to get out of his prison sentence. And the second page of his book delved into a rather intriguing step he took in the quest for the same. Talking about himself, Tyson mentioned that – at that time – he believed that he was an unstoppable titan. A reincarnation of Alexander the Great, in fact. And also blamed his ego and his low self-esteem for this ‘delusion of grandeur’.
‘Iron’ Mike also revealed that he felt hopeless when he realized that he was being called to court for his sentencing. And in this moment of despair, he turned to ‘divine intervention’ for help. Tyson said, “I tried some divine intervention. Calvin, my close friend from Chicago, told me about some hoodoo woman, who could cast a spell to keep me out of jail.”
His friend further gave details about the ritual, saying, “You piss in a jar, then put five hundred-dollar bills in there. Then put the jar under your bed for three days. And bring it to her and she’ll pray over it for you.”
Tyson, however, deduced that this ritual was a scam. Moreover, he also added that he had a reputation for throwing away money. And that this ritual was ‘too much’ even for him.

Why did Tyson go to jail?
Tyson was arrested in July 1991 for the alleged se*ual assault of the then 18-year-old, Miss Black Rhode Island. But, these allegations were denied by Tyson.
He was further convicted in 1992 and sentenced to six years in jail. However, he was released in the year 1995.
