Selena Gomez‘s Character on “Wizards of Waverly Place” Was Bisexual According to Writer – Disney Dining appeared on www.disneydining.com by DisneyDining.
Some surprising new news has been revealed about one of the most favorite Disney channel characters.
Today, Selena Gomez is a household name and massively successful. The actress and Rare Beauty founder has established herself as a classy and talented woman in the industry. However, many adults today will still always remember her as Alex Russo, the hilarious and rebellious teenager which we got to know on the Disney Channel show Wizards of Waverly Place.
Now, a member of the creative team has revealed some insight into the show’s leading character that is truly mind-blowing.
“Wizards of Waverly Place” Showrunner Tells All
Wizards of Waverly Place was on the Disney Channel from 2007 to 2012. The series was massively successful, and the public fell in love with the Russo family and all of their adventures. The show was loved by critics as well, and it even ended up winning 2 Emmys during its time on the air.
Not all was perfect behind the scenes at Wizards of Waverly Place. The series showrunner and writer, Peter Murrieta left before the final season was filmed. Many fans were disappointed that he was never able to fulfill his complete vision for the show. On the Podcast “Wizards of Waverly Pod” hosted by the show’s actors Jennifer Stone and David DeLuise, the pair was able to ask Peter Murrieta about any plotlines he wished he could have finished.
His answer was somewhat shocking. He said that he wished he would have been able to expand more on the relationship between Selena Gomez’s character Alex Russo and the character Stevie, who was played by Hayley Kiyoko. Some fans remember Alex and Stevie having some major chemistry on the show, and it turns out their instincts were right. Murrieta elaborates, saying, “It was pretty clear to all of us what that relationship was.”
While that was not the direction that the show ended up going, it is wild to know that Alex Russo was intended to be bisexual!
