Serena Williams reigns as second-most-googled Black woman in 2022 after Zendaya, overtakes likes of Michelle Obama, Beyonce and Meghan Markle appeared on www.sportskeeda.com by Hari Kishore M.

Tennis ace Serena Williams has made it to the top 10 of the world’s most-searched Black women in 2022.

Williams made it to the second spot, behind American actor and singer Zendaya, with 1.6 million searches every month last year.

A study from lifestyle website ThatSister looked at Google search data for over 100 of the most influential Afro-American ethnic women since January 1, 2022. Results revealed that Zendaya, Serena Williams, Meghan Markle, Beyonce and Michelle Obama had more than one million searches every month.

Williams was followed by Meghan Markle, Beyonce and Michelle Obama in the top five. Jada Pinkett-Smith, Oprah Winfrey, rappers Nicki Minaj and Cardi B, and Whoopi Goldberg rounded out the top 10.

Serena Williams has been one of the most influential figures in tennis. Not only has the American made her mark in the sporting world, but she has also impacted the lives of many women.

With the month of March being Women’s History Month, players from the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers expressed their admiration for Williams on social media.

Shake Milton affirmed that Williams is the greatest athlete of all time. He also emphasized the sacrifices the American had to make to get to the top.

“She’s the GOAT, hands down like it’s not even debatable. She might be the greatest athlete of all time, period! It takes a tremendous amount of sacrifice amongst other things to be able to do what she does. She’s an inspiration,” he said in a video posted by the team on social media.

James Harden, another 76ers player, highlighted how Williams and himself grew up in Compton, California. He said that it was incredible of Williams to have made it out of the city, which was filled with “distractions.”

He also opined that the 41-year-old’s legacy goes beyond just tennis and referred to her as a “sports icon.”

“You know, we’re from the same place, both from Compton,” asserted the 33-year-old. “So, the amount of distraction is crazy and for her to make it out of Compton and recognize as the best female player to touch a racket and not even just tennis but she’s a sports icon, sports legend in general.”

Williams, a 23-time Grand Slam champion, ended her professional tennis career in September last year with a third-round loss to Ajla Tomljanovic at the 2022 US Open.

In December, she launched her first wellness brand Will Perform, a collection of topical painkillers, daily muscle care lotions, and roll-ons. The products are designed to offer pain relief and everyday muscle support to both athletes and non-athletes.
