Title: Starfield and Redfall removed from Bethesda Gamescom plans

Starfield and Redfall look to have been removed from any plans Bethesda might have had to show them during Gamescom, which was suggested in a now-updated blog post on the company’s website.

A blog post on the Bethesda website regarding the company’s appearances during this year’s Gamescom (thanks, Eurogamer), looks like it’s gone from offering fresh Starfield and Redfall gameplay, to only showing previously released gameplay, to now not alluding to either game at all.

Although the two Bethesda games don’t really sound like they’ll be appearing next week, we’ll likely see more of the other Xbox Game Pass titles we’re expecting to see launch in 2022 and 2023.

Bethesda potentially won’t be showing any Starfield or Redfall gameplay at Gamescom

According to a screen-grabbed image on Reddit, Bethesda’s original Gamescom blog post had said: “Come see Redfall and Starfield gameplay and get your hands on Fallout 76 while you’re there. Of course, we also have a few surprises and goodies in store for you.” This naturally gained a bit of attention from the community, but not long after the initial blog was published, commentators then said that the blog had been changed to say: “Come see a replay of the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase gameplay presentations for Redfall and Starfield and get your hands on Fallout 76 while you’re there. Of course, we also have a few surprises and goodies in store for you.”

While that sounds fair enough, it now looks like the blog has once again been updated, and any mention of Starfield and Redfall has been removed entirely, so we’re not entirely sure what’s happening. Bethesda’s yearly showcase, QuakeCon premiered yesterday, offering a little bit of Redfall action but with no mention of Starfield, so it would be a little strange to see their own flagship title skip that and head straight to Gamescom, but stranger things have happened — who would have guessed Death Stranding would be on PC Game Pass? We wouldn’t, and now look where we are.

Microsoft’s own Xbox lineup for Gamescom hasn’t mentioned hide nor hair of Starfield or Redfall either but we will see some snippets of the now delayed High on Life, Obsidian’s Pentiment, A Plague Tale: Requiem, and more.

Do you think there is a chance that Bethesda will surprise us all and show some gameplay during Opening Night Live next Tuesday? Drop a comment below and let us know!
