“Technology & Innovation can Help Boost Sustainability”: S. Niranjan Reddy at SmartAgri Summit appeared on krishijagran.com by Shivam Dwivedi.
On December 9, the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted its SmartAgri Summit and Exhibition 2022 at the Sheraton Hotel, Hyderabad. The summit’s theme was ‘Sustainable Agriculture through AgriTech Solutions.’
The summit primarily focused on policy intervention, sustainable farming, agriculture marketing, finance and insurance, and agriculture technology and start-ups. Agriculture Minister S. Niranjan Reddy addressed SmartAgri Summit in Hyderabad on Friday.
Agriculture Minister S. Niranjan Reddy emphasised the importance of technology and innovation in achieving farm sector sustainability.
The Minister said this while speaking at a SmartAgri Summit, emphasising how agriculture is a priority sector for the state and how achieving sustainability in the farm sector is critical.
“Technology and innovation are most likely the best way to accomplish this. The state government sees Telangana as a model state for bringing a digital revolution to India’s agri-sector,” he said.
Telangana has identified agriculture as a priority sector and is now focusing on developing technology-based solutions that will benefit farmers and policymakers. BCC & I believes that Hyderabad is the best place in the country to establish a platform for knowledge assimilation and dissemination in the Smart Agriculture space.
Reddy stated that Telangana’s Kaleshwaram project is the world’s largest multi-stage lift irrigation project when speaking of the State government’s policies focused on critical components for increasing farm output.
Because of this initiative, the state has increased cultivation to 2.03 crore acres from 1.21 crore acres in 2014, a 68% increase. According to a press release from Bengal Chamber, the summit’s focus will be policy discussions.
Ashok Dalwai, CEO of the National Rainfed Area Authority and Chairman of the Commission to Double Farmers’ Income, stated that farmers are the entrepreneurs who take the most risks. Subir Chakraborty, President of the Chamber, emphasised the importance of farmer credit access.
