Tennessee zoo surprises world with planet's only spotless giraffe appeared on www.marca.com by SAM.
Nature never ceases to surprise us with examples like the one that happened at the Brights Zoo in Tennessee, United States.
That’s where a family of giraffes in captivity gave birth a calf. This isn’t newsworthy in itself. What is striking is that this new member is a spotless specimen, which is characteristic of this mammal.
Its solid brown appearance has surprised all visitors and those who have seen the images of this monocolored giraffe. It isn’t common and experts have pointed out that this calf is the only “single-colored reticulated giraffe on the planet“, according to CBS News.
This animal was born on July 31 and the Tennessee Zoo is holding a contest to decide the name of the giraffe.
Four names are being considered: Kipekee, which means “unique”; Firyali, which means “unusual” or “extraordinary”; Shakiri, which means “the most beautiful”; and Jamella, are the names with the contest ending on Monday.
In 2020 a family of three albino giraffes was found in Kenya, but two of them were killed
David Bright, director of the zoo located in the United States, told CBS that the last time a spotless giraffe was documented was in 1972 in Tokyo. She was named Toshiko and lived at the Ueno Zoo.
Recently, in 2020, a family of three albino giraffes was found in Kenya. Unfortunately, poachers killed the female and calf, causing worldwide outrage.
Since the birth of this spotless giraffe in Tennessee, the aforementioned media outlet has contacted the Giraffe Conservation Foundation to find out the reason for its peculiar skin color.
