That Splinter Cell film is dead appeared on www.pcgamesinsider.biz by By Alex Calvin, PCGamesInsider Contributing Editor.
The long-in-development Splinter Cell movie has been killed.
That’s according to the project’s producer Basil Iwanyk – as reported by The Direct – who said that the film had been shelved because they “couldn’t get it right”.
Work on a Splinter Cell movie began back in 2012 with Tom Hardy pegged to lead as series protagonist Sam Fisher. Edge of Tomorrow director Doug Liman was tapped to direct the project, though progress appears to have been slow.
“That movie would have been awesome… Just couldn’t get it right, script-wise, budget-wise,” Basil Iwanyk said.
“But it was going to be great. We had a million different versions of it, but it was going to be hardcore and awesome. That’s one of the ones that got away, which is really sad.”
While the live-action film project has been axed, there is an anime series on the horizon over at Netflix.
