The Last Of Us Part 1 debut is less than Saints Row – Games charts
The PS5 remake of The Last Of Us has sold around half that of last week’s Saints Row, as Sony’s latest exclusive suffers a modest start.
You’d expect a new PlayStation 5 exclusive to debut at the top of the charts and that’s exactly what’s happened with The Last Of Us Part 1, except its sales have been half that of last week’s Saints Row.
Saints Row itself was only a mild hit (it’s already down to number six this week) and yet The Last Of Us Part 1 is even smaller than that, with nothing to suggest it’s done better on digital, as it has no online component.
It is only a single format game, but so too is Pokémon Legends: Arceus and that’s the biggest physical release of the year so far, which suggests that interest in the remake has been unusually low for a Sony first party title – as has seemed to be the case since its announcement.
Despite being such a quiet summer there were other new entries last week, with retro remaster compilation Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection getting as far as number three.
That’s higher than new game Shredder’s Revenge, although that’s largely because The Cowabunga Collection launched the same time as the digital version, while Shredder’s Revenge was several months after.
Also new at number four is F1 Manager 2022, with remaster Destroy All Humans! 2 – Reprobed at number 16 and Super Smash Bros. style fighter Lego Brawls at number 30.
