The Most Popular PS Plus Free Game for September 2023 Prediction Comes a Little Out of Left Field appeared on gamerant.com by Game Rant.
Sony is expected to make its next PS Plus announcement on August 30, revealing which free games will be coming to the Essential Tier on September 5. That means fans have until then to grab the PS Plus free games for August 2023, which include Death’s Door, Dreams, and PGA Tour 2K23. But for those who have claimed them, already owned them, or just want September’s games either way, that means they are currently in a lull waiting for the announcement and then, in turn, waiting for the release of the games.
To help bide that time, there is a PS Plus Prediction Tournament going on over on the PlayStation Plus Subreddit, started by user MeDungeon. Said tournament is still ongoing, but the results as of this writing point toward an interesting game no one would expect on top. Keeping in mind that there are several high-profile predictions here, including The Last of Us, Spider-Man, and Sekiro, the number one “predicted” free game for PS Plus in September 2023 is actually Little Nightmares 2.
In the face of such stiff competition, it’s interesting to see the much smaller-scaled game come out on top, but it’s not a bad prediction either. PS Plus has often released games in conjunction with upcoming releases (God of War 2018 dropped on PS Plus Essential shortly before God of War Ragnarok came out) or announcements (Battlefield 5 was made available on PS Plus ahead of Battlefield 2042‘s reveal), and the recent announcement of Little Nightmares 3 is no doubt driving the desire to see Little Nightmares 2 on the PS Plus service.
Retaining the graphical presentation and general vibe, Little Nightmares 3 sees players step into the shoes of Low and Alone. These two characters are searching for their way out of Nowhere, but the big game-changer here comes down to co-op. Little Nightmares 3 features online co-op or allows players to play solo with an AI companion. It remains to be seen how else the Little Nightmares formula is expanded, but many fans are no doubt excited. And if Sony were to release Little Nightmares 2 on PS Plus, the general hype around the threequel and the franchise as a whole would likely increase tenfold.
Popular Games for PS Plus Free September Games
The most popular games, via this Reddit thread, are as follows:
- Little Nightmares 2 – 19
- Hades – 15
- Sifu – 13
- Marvel’s Spider-Man – 10
- Hitman 3 – 9
- The Last of Us 2 – 7
- Gotham Knights – 7
- Sekiro – 5
- And a cacophony of other games
Little Nightmares 2 may come out on top, but there were plenty of other predictions in the thread. Following Little Nightmares 2 are Hades and Sifu, both of which would be excellent games for the PS Plus service. However, perhaps Hades‘ hopeful inclusion on PS Plus Essential would be best timed when fans have more information on Hades 2‘s early access.
It’s also interesting to see how Gotham Knights currently has as many predictions as The Last of Us 2, and it’s likely because it very much feels like a subscription service game. A full version of Gotham Knights on PS Plus seems like an eventuality, but whether that’s in September, whether it beats Little Nightmares 2 to the punch, or if every prediction here is practically null and void remains to be seen. But either way, it’s interesting to see Little Nightmares 2 come out of seemingly nowhere and beat out several higher-profile games.
PS Plus subscribers get a handful of games every month.
