If Lewis Hamilton takes a victory in the 2023 season, he will be the first driver to win after his 300th F1 race start.
At the same time, the Briton would move to the top of a lucrative list of drivers who have won a race at the furthest point of their Formula 1 careers.
Hamilton’s last win, at the 2021 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, was achieved on his 287th F1 start.
The only driver to have won a race further into his career is Kimi Raikkonen, who secured his final F1 victory at the 2018 US Grand Prix on his 288th F1 start.
Hamilton and Fernando Alonso (355 GP starts prior to 2023 season) are the only two drivers who are able to go to the top of this list, albeit with Alonso much less likely to do so.
Incidentally, Alonso’s last win at the 2013 Spanish GP was his 201st GP start, which ranks him 12th, just off the list below.
Sergio Perez, who has raced in every season since 2011, moved up to seventh in the list with his win at the Singapore GP, and has a strong chance of moving into the top four with a win in 2023.
Other drivers who are mathematically able to take a place on the list in the 2023 season are Valtteri Bottas (200 GP starts) and Nico Hulkenberg (181), but the Alfa Romeo and Haas cars are much less likely to be race-winning cars in 2023.
