The PS5 Pro Isn’t Selling Out, But It Is An Amazon Best Seller appeared on www.thegamer.com by Josh Coulson.

Key Takeaways

  • The PS5 Pro is among Amazon’s best sellers after pre-orders for the console opened at third-party retailers last week.
  • Despite that, the console is still widely available and in stock at Amazon, PlayStation, and other major retailers.
  • Unsurprising considering the backlash PlayStation received for pricing the Pro at $700.

PlayStation continued its rollout of the PS5 Pro last week by making pre-orders available through third-party retailers for the first time. The bad news for PlayStation is unlike the original version of the console, the Pro has not been selling out. The good news is that despite that, the PS5 Pro is comfortably the best-selling console on Amazon right now.

At the time of typing this, the PS5 Pro is the seventh best-selling item in Amazon’s video games section. The only six items above it are PlayStation, Xbox, Fortnite, and Roblox gift cards which, barring the launch of something monumental (keep an eye on those rankings when the Switch 2 is released) tend to be the usual suspects.

Despite that, the PS5 Pro is not only still available to pre-order on Amazon, but it’s also in stock just about everywhere. Not only GameStop, Best Buy, and Walmart, but also PlayStation Direct. Particularly surprising that the Pro is still available at the source since for two weeks prior to it arriving on Amazon et al, PlayStation Direct was the only place you could buy the souped-up console.

Some Of You Are More Than Happy Spending $700 On The PS5 Pro

The PS5 Pro remaining widely available weeks after launch probably isn’t all that surprising to most of you. The reveal of PlayStation’s mid-gen refresh generated quite a bit of backlash when it was confirmed to cost $700. That’s a lot of money for something that doesn’t promise that much more than a regular PS5. Twice as much storage, which is nice considering the ballooning sizes of triple-A games, and better visuals in select games, the list of which isn’t all that long at the moment.

It’s also entirely possible that PlayStation was simply more prepared for the Pro’s launch than it was for the regular PS5. The base console sold out immediately when it was released almost four years ago and stayed that way during the months that followed. The reality is likely somewhere in the middle. I’m sure PlayStation over-prepared for the Pro’s arrival, but I also don’t think as many people are prepared to pay $700 for it as PlayStation might have hoped.

PlayStation 5 Pro

With the PlayStation®5 Pro console, the world’s greatest game creators can enhance their games with incredible features like advanced ray tracing, super sharp image clarity for your 4K TV, and high frame rate gameplay*. That means you get to play PS5® games with the most impressive visuals ever possible on a PlayStation® console.

It’s also worth noting that anyone looking to join PlayStation’s current generation four years in can do so for half the price of a PS5 Pro. The listings for PlayStation’s refurbished PS5s went live last week with a digital-only version of the original console priced at just $350. With that option available for people who don’t care about the extra storage and improved but limited visuals, there’s no contest.
