The Weeknd Shares Tweet Claiming He’s Making Surprise Coachella Appearance appeared on www.complex.com by Brad Callas.
It looks like The Weeknd is planning a surprise appearance at this year’s Coachella.
On Wednesday, the Canadian pop star retweeted a post from fan account @abelstargirllll claiming he will return to the Indio, California festival. Coachella 2023, headlined by Frank Ocean, Blackpink, and Bad Bunny, is set to take place on the weekends of April 14-16 and April 21-23.
Abel may have been hinting toward this on Monday, tweeting a desert emoji with a question mark, followed by a post asking, “Where will you find me?”
Another breadcrumb can be found in the replies to the post he retweeted. A fan attached a clip of the singer’s recent Instagram Live session, which featured Abel telling someone in the background that they just “exposed” his surprise Coachella appearance.
“You just said ‘see you in the desert’ on Live. Exposed,” The Weeknd told the person, who seemingly uttered the phrase while on a phone call.
The news arrives days after The Weeknd teased new music during the aforementioned IG Live session. He hinted that his next offering—The Idol Vol. 1, a companion album to his forthcoming HBO series of the same name—is dropping “soon.”
The Weeknd also teased several new songs this month, including a collaboration with Future and a cover of John Lennon’s “Jealous Guy. Check out previews of the tracks in the Instagram clips below.
