The Weeknd is taking a unique step in his musical journey, signaling the end of his collaborations with fellow artists, with one exception that he remains optimistic about. During his “After Hours Til Dawn” tour stop in Warsaw, Poland, the Grammy-winning artist, born Abel Tesfaye, candidly shared his career decision on stage. A video clip capturing the moment was later shared across his social media platforms.

In the video, Tesfaye addresses the crowd, introducing an unreleased track he’s about to perform, saying: “This next song I’m about to perform is an unreleased record. I haven’t dropped it yet.” The song, titled “Another One of Me,” holds a special significance, as he unveils, “but I just want to say this is gonna be the last feature I ever do, ever, in my career so I want to perform it for you guys tonight.”

The snippet from the concert previews the intro beat of the upcoming song, and while it cuts off before the vocals kick in, it gives listeners a taste of the track’s electronic beats, reminiscent of his recent albums “After Hours” and “Dawn FM.”

In a lighthearted remark, Tesfaye adds a clause to his statement: “The final feature… unless Daft Punk ever get back together,” demonstrating his affinity for the possibility of future collaborations.

He didn’t elaborate on the unreleased track

While The Weeknd‘s representative confirmed his decision to refrain from further collaborations, except for the potential reunion of Daft Punk, they maintained an air of mystery around the unreleased track, withholding details about the featured artist and the release date.

Notably, The Weeknd had previously collaborated with Daft Punk, with hits like “I Feel It Coming” and “Starboy” stemming from their partnership on his 2016 album “Starboy.” However, the electronic duo announced their split in February 2021, marking the end of an era.

Recent instances of Tesfaye’s collaborative efforts include his contributions to the soundtrack of his HBO series “The Idol,” featuring artists such as Lily Rose Depp, Lil Baby, Future, and more. He also made waves with collaborations with Madonna on “Popular” and alongside Bad Bunny and Travis Scott on “K-Pop.”
