Tin Hearts Makes a Promising Return to VR with PSVR 2 Edition appeared on gameishard.gg by Game Is Hard.

Tin Hearts, developed by Rogue Sun, has returned to new VR headsets after a five-year absence, with a PSVR 2 edition. Described as a tale spanning generations and dimensions, this whimsical VR game has the potential to captivate players with its worldbuilding and environmental storytelling.

The demo showcased at EGX 2023 provided a glimpse into the Victorian inventor Albert Butterworth’s story, where players guide toy soldiers through a series of puzzles. Although initially simple, the levels gradually become more complex, with past visions showing the history of Butterworth’s family.

What sets Tin Hearts apart is its fully explorable 360° puzzles and creative use of teleportation movement. Players can watch soldiers slide down a harp or give them balloons for extended jumps, all while navigating the broader environments. Careful handling of the soldiers is essential, as toys can break if not treated correctly.

One of the standout features of Tin Hearts is its non-linear gameplay. Players are encouraged to take their time and explore the environment fully, as the solutions to puzzles can sometimes be obscure. The ability to pause, fast-forward, and rewind time adds to the strategic element of gameplay.

Although the visuals in the PSVR 2 demo showed promise with detailed and colorful environments, the resolution could have been sharper. However, there is the possibility of improvement before the full release.

While a release window for the PSVR 2 and SteamVR versions has yet to be confirmed, the PSVR 2 demo will be available on November 2. Tin Hearts is already available on flatscreen platforms.
