To recruit better candidates Vatican launches ‘Work with Us’ website appeared on catholicvote.org by CatholicVote org.
CV NEWS FEED // The Vatican has launched a new webpage, titled “Work with Us,” to accept job applications from laypeople interested in vacant positions at the Holy See.
This is the key feature of the new website of the Secretariat for the Economy, which went live on Tuesday.
According to Vatican News, until now, lay staff at various levels of the Holy See were hired based on available CVs (curriculum vitae). Work with Us is aimed specifically at candidates external to the Vatican, who will now be able to apply for all available positions.
According to Luis Herrera, the director of human resources of the Holy See, interested candidates will be able to submit their applications directly through the website, where they will find all information about vacant positions and the required qualifications.
Prefect Maximino Caballero Ledo, who oversees the Secretariat for the Economy, highlighted the challenge of recruiting qualified personnel to support economic reform.
“This is because to implement the reform and carry out the mission of the Holy See, we need people with the appropriate competence, motivation, and, above all, an ethical sense,” he stated.
The Vatican stressed ethical integrity among its workers in a recent directive from Pope Francis that required adherence to Catholic moral teachings for St. Peter’s Basilica employees, including the removal of body piercings and covering tattoos, as CatholicVote previously reported.
Through this website, as noted by the Secretariat for the Economy, everyone will have immediate access to information about available positions, which will promote the selection of personnel genuinely interested in each specific role and facilitate the identification of individuals possessing unique and essential skills.
“It often happens,” Herrera noted, “that Dicasteries and offices request staff with particular specializations, such as linguistic or technical skills, which are not easy to find. Thanks to the new website, communication between supply and demand will be facilitated.”
