Today’s Wordle #675 Hints, Clues And Answers For Tuesday, April 25th appeared on www.forbes.com by Erik Kain.

Tuesday isn’t a particularly remarkable day normally, but I have a feeling that today’s Wordle will stump a lot of players, or at least make them sweat. It’s just one of those words. But I’ll get into that down below, after the hints.

Wordle continues to be a shockingly popular diversion for people well over a year after I began writing this daily Wordle guide. I’ve written one of these (almost) every day for the last fifteen months or so. Pretty crazy. And in just 25 days we’ll be at another nice, round number: Wordle #700.

By then it will be mid-May already with school almost out and summer just around the corner. For now, spring is here and it’s lovely. The crabapple trees in our front yard are just on the cusp of blossoming into bright pink pom-poms.

Alright, on to the Wordle!

How To Solve Today’s Wordle

The Hint: Funny guy.

The Clue: This word has more consonants than vowels.

The Answer:

.

.

.

This is, without a doubt, the closest Wordle Bot has ever come to actually losing at a Wordle. I don’t think he’s ever lost, but six guesses is pretty bad—and kind of hilarious. Since we are sworn enemies, I have to take pleasure in the Bot’s humiliation.

I got lucky. My first guess lined things up nicely, but I was still worried, because there were just so many words left that it could be. Ropes actually narrowed it down to just 26 guesses, but as I thought about the possibilities, there were just so many similar words. Mover, boxer, voter, foyer, tower, etc. Still, at least I had three letters to work with right off the bat.

I chose lofty because I wanted a word that would eliminate the most possible solutions. Wordle Bot said I should have picked blown, which makes sense. Still, I was in a better spot than before by the time I guessed chuck to get rid of the pesky C-words (like cover) and H-words (like hover) and got lucky because that ‘K’ slashed the remaining solutions down to just 1: joker.

My score today: Despite beating Wordle Bot by a wide margin, I still only get 1 point for that and zero for guessing in 4 for a total of 1 point. Huzzah!

Today’s Wordle Etymology (Via ChatGPT)

The word “joker” comes from the Old French word “joueur,” which means “player” or “performer.” Over time, the word “joueur” evolved into “joglar” in medieval Latin and then “jester” in Middle English. The modern term “joker” emerged in the 19th century and originally referred to a playing card that could be used as a wild card in certain games. The association with a person who makes jokes or performs comic acts likely came later, as the word took on a more general sense of someone who is humorous or unpredictable.

Play Competitive Wordle Against Me!

I’ve been playing a cutthroat game of PvP Wordle against my nemesis Wordle But. Now you should play against me! I can be your nemesis! (And your helpful Wordle guide, of course). You can also play against the Bot if you have a New York Times subscription.

  • Here are the rules:1 point for getting the Wordle in 3 guesses.
  • 2 points for getting it in 2 guesses.
  • 3 points for getting it in 1 guess.
  • 1 point for beating Erik
  • 0 points for getting it in 4 guesses.
  • -1 point for getting it in 5 guesses.
  • -2 points for getting it in 6 guesses.
  • -3 points for losing.
  • -1 point for losing to Erik

I’d love it if you gave me a follow on Twitter or Facebook dearest Wordlers. Have a lovely day!
