The battle for the eastern city of Bakhmut has not let up. Ukraine’s deputy defense minister said fighting was escalating, while an aide to President Volodymyr Volodymyr Zelensky sounded an optimistic note about the effort to repel Russian forces.
Farther from the front lines, technicians are scrambling Saturday to restore power supply to regions of Ukraine as the aftermath of a missile attack spilled into the weekend, leaving many without power and heat.
