Viral Twitter joke says Kanye West is banned from manga game Yu-Gi-Oh appeared on www.hitc.com by Ellissa Bain.

A number of brands have cut ties with Kanye West and reports are now flooding Twitter that the game Yu-Gi-Oh has banned him too.

The rapper has been dropped by Adidas, Balenciaga, Gap, Vogue and more companies following recent anti-semitism.

Now, people are saying Yu-Gi-Oh, an online game based on the Japanese manga series by Kazuki Takahashi, is the latest company to penalize the rapper.

However, you shouldn’t believe everything you read online…

Has Kanye West been suspended from Yu-Gi-Oh?

No, the rapper has not been suspended from Yu-Gi-Oh.

The rumour began when a Twitter user called Francis Wolf shared a photo of the Yu-Gi-Oh Suspended Persons List which reveals Kanye’s name at the top.

However, the photo, which says Ye was banned for “unsporting conduct severe” and won’t be eligible for reinstatement until April 1 2057, is fake.

A look at the real Suspended Persons List reveals that Kanye’s name is not on there, and the list hasn’t actually been updated since August 31.

Twitter users fooled by fake suspension pic

The image is clearly edited, but it certainly fooled a lot of people who thought he had really been banned from the popular game.

One person tweeted: “They just banned Kanye West from playing #Yugioh. I thought you should know that.”

“Bro no way they banned Kanye from Yugioh,” said another.

A third person added: “I think it’s funny Kanye is banned from playing Yugioh.”

“Kanye got a 35 year suspension from Yugioh,” someone else wrote.

Brands terminate partnerships with Kanye

Ye hasn’t been suspended by Yu-Gi-Oh, but he has been dropped from most of his partnerships and collaborations.

The biggest is Adidas, who has collaborated with the rapper since 2015 and produced hundreds of styles of Yeezy shoes.

“After a thorough review, the company has taken the decision to terminate the partnership with Ye immediately, end production of Yeezy branded products and stop all payments to Ye and his companies,” they said.

The brand added this is because Adidas “does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech” and “Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful and dangerous”.

Balenciaga also severed ties, telling Women’s Wear Daily: “Balenciaga has no longer any relationship nor any plans for future projects related to this artist.”

Kanye had already terminated his partnership with Gap in September, but they have now removed Yeezy Gap products from stores and shut down YeezyGap.com.

“Antisemitism, racism and hate in any form are inexcusable and not tolerated in accordance with our values,” they said.

Ye is no longer a client of the Creative Arts Agency and Vogue and Anna Wintour have also revealed they no longer want to work with the rapper.
