Warren Zevon’s first nomination for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has certainly made for some excitable boys, and girls, among his fans — and including his children.
The singer-songwriter, who passed away in 2003 at the age of 56 from mesothelioma, has long been considered one of the Rock Hall’s most controversial exclusions, by professional peers and listeners alike. His inclusion on this year’s ballot, 28 years after he was first eligible — has generated considerable excitement — demonstrated in the fan vote, in which Zevon currently sits at third with more than 440,000 votes, behind only George Michael and Cyndi Lauper.
