The proposal jokingly hinged on whether or not Bruce would give the couple a harmonica.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band wrapped a two-show stand at Voldsløkka Stadion in Oslo, Norway on Sunday. The Boss presided over a marriage proposal during a favorite from his 2002 album, The Rising.

Springsteen went heavy, however, on his landmark 1984 album, Born In The U.S.A., for the final night in Oslo including a tour debut as well as a few changes to the setlist. Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band launched the concert with “My Love Will Not Let You Down,” which has received the opening nod in place of the usual “No Surrender” several times on the European leg of the 2023 Tour, although it was the first time on the tour Born In The U.S.A.’s “No Surrender” was completely dropped from the setlist.

Bruce and the band did offer the tour debut of Born In The U.S.A.’s “Downbound Train.” The first version of the song since February 16, 2017, as per SetlistFM stats, came in the midst of four early songs from Born In The U.S.A. — “Darlington County,” “Working On The Highway,” the aforementioned “Downbound Train” and “I’m On Fire.”

The wedding proposal came two songs later after “Kitty’s Back” and the band’s cover of the Commodores’ “Nightshift.” During “Mary’s Place,” Springsteen was on the edge of the stage and picked up a sign and read it over the mic.

“Dear Bruce, my boyfriend says if I get the harmonica he will consider [proposing] to me this summer.”

Bruce then got a quizzical look on his face and exclaimed, “consider?! If [you] get the harmonica, that fucker’s proposing!” The Boss then called for his harmonica, gave it to the couple and pulled them onstage. Watch the big moment below via the YouTube account Iivis -:

The rest of the show went as planned with Bruce and the band closing the main set with “Badlands” and delivering his classic-filled encore of “Born In The U.S.A.,” “Born To Run,” “Bobby Jean,” “Glory Days,” “Dancing In The Dark” and “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out.” Bruce closed out the evening solo acoustic with “I’ll See You In My Dreams” from his most recent album of new original material, 2020’s Letter To You.

The second European leg of Burce Springsteen and the E Street Band’s 2023 Tour rolls on before they return to North America in August. Check out their itinerary:
