While there’s plenty of stuff to look forward to in Overwatch 2 Season 6, we still have around half a season to go until then. That means it’s about time for a midseason patch. It seems like a bunch of balance changes are lined up, along with the return of a fan favorite event.

The midseason patch is expected to go live on July 11th at 2PM ET. Blizzard previously announced that’s when this year’s Summer Games event will start. Along with the return of Lucioball, this edition includes a new mode called Winston’s Beach Volleyball.

On the hero balance front, we have some idea of what to expect, thanks to hints that Overwatch 2 game director Aaron Keller dropped in his most recent Director’s Take blog post.

Torbjorn and Symmetra are in line for some very interesting tweaks to their kits. Keller said both heroes will be rebalanced to shift some power from their turrets into the rest of their abilities. As someone who recently played Tracer and blinked into three Sym turrets and died in approximately 1.1 seconds, I’m all for the revamp of her kit.

Symmetra’s already an underrated hero, especially when she cranks her beam up to full damage, and this rework could make her deadlier in the right hands. Torb turrets are the bane of many players’ existence, so his changes will likely be welcome ones for enemy players too.

As for Sojourn, Keller promising improved control over the spread of her primary fire. It’s unclear quite what that means as yet, but she may become a more viable pick very soon.

It’s also unclear exactly what changes are in line for Reinhardt and Orisa, but the tanks are in line for some buffs. Both will be getting improved frontline capability, Keller wrote. This likely means changes to their defensive capabilities to make them more durable, such as Rein having a shield that can withstand more damage.

Elsewhere, Zenyatta’s Orb of Discord is getting a nerf. Keller said there will be some “slight adjustments” to the ability, which may be a relief for enemy tanks.

There are changes to several other heroes in store, but we’ll likely need to wait until the patch goes live to learn what those are. Thankfully, it looks like we won’t have to wait long to find out.
