HOLLYWOOD star Morgan Freeman‘s death posts have been trending all over the internet.
While the news is just an internet rumour and the beloved actor is alive and well, here is the reason why his death is being heavily speculated.
Who is Morgan Freeman?
Born on June 1, 1937, Morgan Freeman is an American actor and producer who is widely known for his, distinctive, authoritative voice.
He is the son of Mayme Edna Freeman (Revere), a former school teacher, and Morgan Porterfield Freeman, a barber.
During his childhood, Morgan was sent to his paternal grandmother in Mississippi but kept moving across states quite frequently, living in Indiana and then finally moving to Chicago, Illinois.
The Hollywood fame attended Broad Street High School in Greenwood and graduated in 1955.
He received a partial drama scholarship from Jackson State University, but turned down the offer to get enrolled in the United States Air Force.
During his service, he served as an Automatic Tracking Radar repairman before rising to the rank of Airman First Class.
In 1959, he finally moved to Los Angeles, California, where he took acting classes at Pasadena Playhouse.
Eventually, he studied theatre arts at the Los Angeles City College, where he started his short career as a dancer.
Morgan was always inclined towards drama and theatre – and made his acting debut at the age of nine.
When he was 12, he won the statewide drama competition which further boosted his passion towards the art field.
After playing distinguished roles during his brief acting stunt in the TV industry, Morgan rose to Hollywood success during the 90s .
One of his earliest movies – Glory – was nominated for five Academy awards, and had won three of them.
His career kicked off with strong roles in The Bonfire of the Vanities, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, and The Power of One.
In, Morgan played the role of Red in Shawshank Redemption which went on to become one of the highest-rated Hollywood movies of all time.
The actor portrayed the role of Nelson Mandela in the true-life Frama Invictus, for which he garnered Oscar, Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice Award nominations, and won the National Board of Review Award for Best Actor.

Morgan Freeman has been subjected to death rumours on the internet for years.
In 2012, a post claiming the American actor’s death generated millions of views.
In 2017, another fake news story was circulated more than 750,000 times, citing the actor had died in his Mississippi home.
And this year, another hoax story stating Morgan died from cancer has been trending across the internet.
Various YouTube channels and Facebook pages propagate this fake news to gain views and watch time.
However, these news are fake as the Hollywood legend’s death would be covered globally across all legitimate media channels.
What is a death hoax?
A death hoax is a deliberate report of someone’s death, especially a popular person, that is later proven to be untrue.
In the 21st century, death hoaxes have become increasingly popular due to the rise of social media.
Hoaxes about deaths increase in frequency on the internet when genuine celebrity deaths occur.
