World Cup Wrap-Up: Jesus praise, Saka back in pool appeared on www.arsenal.com by World Cup Wrap-Up: Jesus praise, Saka back in pool.

Throughout the tournament, we’ll be keeping you up to date on what our Gunners have been getting up to with our World Cup Wrap-Ups.

In our fifth edition, we see some high praise indeed for Gabriel Jesus, Bukayo Saka back in the pool and an excited member of the women’s team.

R9’s love for Gabby

Ahead of Brazil’s final group against Cameroon on Friday night, their legendary former striker Ronaldo has heaped praise on Gabriel Jesus.

Jesus, as well as Gunners teammate Gabriel Martinelli, is hoping for a first start at the tournament against Cameroon with the Selecao having secured a place in the last-16, and if it was down to R9, he would be getting the nod.

Speaking on his Youtube channel, Ronaldo said: “Jesus came to have dinner with us, he stayed by my side there, I met his little daughter, the most beautiful thing.
“We exchanged ideas, he is a very good friend of mine, we have been talking for many years. A very special boy.

“I was chatting with him, reassuring him. He really is having a spectacular year at Arsenal. I was talking to him about how much pleasure I am getting from watching Arsenal play this year.”

Iwabuchi cheers on Tomi

Last night Mana Iwabuchi shared a touching message of support for her compatriot Takehiro Tomiyasu, as Japan shocked the world by topping a group involving Spain and Germany.

The historic victory against the Spanish was celebrated by our attacking midfielder, who captioned her post “London Tomiyasu cheering party”, and will no doubt be excited for the meeting with Croatia in the last 16.

Partey tips Ghana to upset the odds

Ahead of Ghana’s decider against Uruguay on Friday, Thomas Partey provided a rallying call to the lowest-ranked team at the tournament.

The Black Stars currently sit in second spot, with a win guaranteeing them qualification into the knockout stages, and our midfielder believes his team has what it takes, despite heading into the tournament not fancied to progress.

Speaking in the pre-match press conference, he said: “We want to show that we are capable of anything. We were the lowest-ranked team but we need to prove a point. We will prepare well and stick to our plan.
“We know what we are going to do. We are going into this game well prepared, we know what we have to do to be able to win, and we have worked hard.”

Saka gets splashed

After qualifying top of their group, some of the England squad have been enjoying some downtime in the swimming pool ahead of their clash against Senegal on Sunday.

While he may not have brought his inflatable unicorn with him to Qatar, Bukayo Saka was back in the water as he aims to reclaim a starting spot over the weekend.

Granit’s final training session

It was all smiles ahead in the Switzerland camp as Granit Xhaka and his teammates took part in their final training session ahead of their crucial match against Serbia on Friday.

Should they avoid defeat against the Serbians and Cameroon fail to beat Brazil, then the Swiss will once again make it out of the group and into the knockout stages.
