In addition to her remarkable accolades in the women’s circuit, the former tennis ace, Martina Navratilova, is known for her ‘no-filter’ demeanor on online platforms. She has never shied away when it comes to publicly expressing her viewpoints on various controversial matters in the sporting community. Even the news of a ‘trans’ player competing in the latest women’s national tournament has recently caught the attention of the American tennis legend.

Taking note of the same, the Hall of Famer has been quite infuriated by the growing gender issue in the United States. Consequently, the 18 singles Grand Slam champion has now come forward to issue a stern warning to the authorities ahead of the US Open.

Martina Navratilova expresses her views on a major gender issue ahead of the US Open

The co-founder of the Independent Council on Women’s Sports, Kim Shasby Jones recently shed light on the USTA’s adult policy of allowing a man, who declares himself a female, to play in the women’s division. On her Twitter account, she also shared the news of the male tennis player, Alicia Rowley, who has won two 55 & over women’s championships including the latest Grass Court national tournament.

In the process, Shasby Jones complained about how men are taking the place of many female athletes in the tennis circuit and are competing in various women’s tournaments across the country. Taking note of the same, Martina Navratilova also had some blunt remarks about the USTA’s adult policy. She tweeted, “Come on @USTA- women’s tennis is not for failed male athletes- whatever age. This is not right and it is not fair.”

Ahead of the Grand Slam event in New York, the former tennis ace further expressed her annoyance with their ‘unfair’ policies. She said, “Would this be allowed at the US Open this month? Just with self ID? I don’t think so…”

Apart from the authorities, some tennis enthusiasts have also been a target of condemnation from the Hall of Famer.

After a brilliant run in the grass major event, the Tunisian tennis star, Ons Jabeur, was defeated in her championship match against Markéta Vondroušová. However, instead of lauding her incredible campaign in London, a tennis Twitter page brought to light a cynical ‘religious’ statistic concerning the former world no. 2 player.

Taking note of the same, the tennis legend, Navratilova lashed out at the fan page on Twitter as she was irked by that obscure stat in the women’s circuit. She said,  “A total a**hole is who you are and need to be blocked”
